Edit Asset Dashboard Overview
The Edit Asset dashboard provides access to all editable metadata fields for any asset uploaded to the ViewNexa Asset Library. Users can open the Edit Asset window using any of the following methods:
- Click on the asset’s thumbnail in the asset library list.
- Click on the asset title in the asset library list.
- Click the pencil icon in the "Actions" column on the far right side of the asset library list.
Once in the Edit Asset window, users can update various metadata fields, including the asset title, publication date, tags, and embargo/expiration dates (see details below). A preview video player is available to review the asset.
Users can update the asset thumbnail in one of two ways:
- Click on the "Set Thumbnail" button and select a screenshot from the video player
- Click on the "Upload Thumbnail" button and upload a screenshot graphic file (vector file saved in .png format recommended)
Editable Fields in the Edit Asset Dashboard
Media Type
- Set during asset ingestion and cannot be changed.
Title:
- A text field containing the asset’s title or name.
Publication Date
- Set upon asset ingestion.
- If a pre-existing publication date exists, it is preserved. If not, ViewNexa automatically sets the ingest date as the publication date.
- The publication date determines asset order in channels (newest to oldest or vice versa). Users can adjust this date to modify an asset’s placement in a stream.
Description
- A long-text field for asset descriptions.
- Depending on the destination or partner setup, descriptions may appear in Electronic Program Guides (EPGs).
Categories
- Categories are preset during onboarding and cannot be edited within the ViewNexa CMS.
- This is a multi-select field, allowing multiple categories per asset.
- To request category updates, customers should contact their Onboarding Specialist.
Tags
- Tags are freeform and can be added as needed.
- Tags may be single words or phrases.
- When adding a new tag:
- Type at least three characters to check if an existing tag appears in the dropdown.
- If the tag exists, click on it to add it.
- If the tag is new, finish typing it and press Tab or Enter to save.
- Successfully added tags will appear outlined in blue—only blue-outlined tags are saved.
Include in Automated Transitions
- A checkbox field that is selected by default to include automated transitions
- This field is only active when one or more Transition packages is uploaded to your CMS and applied to a channel.
- Deselect (uncheck) this box if you do not want any Transitions to play before or after a specific asset.
Retain/Do Not Delete
- A checkbox field that is not selected by default
- Selecting this field will mark the asset as permanent in your asset library. This asset will not be included in any multi-asset deletions, or automated deletions.
- The box will need to be unchecked if this asset needs to be deleted from the asset library.
Movie/Series Episode
- Toggle button to view additional editable metadata fields related to Movies and/or Series episodes. Additionally, ViewNexa supports fields related to Sports and Network values.
- Toggling this button on will open a side panel on the Edit Asset Dashboard, revealing additional fields.
Program Fields
- Program fields refer to metadata that is typically associated with an episode. Episodes are organized inside of a Series with one or more Seasons.
- ViewNexa supports the following Program metadata fields:

- ViewNexa supports multiple industry ratings, each with it's own structured value system.
