Setting up a Live Event in Powr's Dashboard
Note: Live Events are a premium Powr feature. To learn more about adding this to your Powr property, please contact your Solutions Engineer.
Step 1: Accessing the Live Events Page
From the Powr dashboard's left menu, select "Content" and then "Live Events" from the drop-down.
Step 2: Adding a Live Event
From the Live Events page, select the "Add Live Event" button along the upper right side of the page.
Step 3: Adding Live Event Details and Metadata
From here you will enter all the necessary information and metadata to get your Live Event up and running.
Please note that the following are required fields that you must populate in order to create your Live Event:
Title: Enter a name for your Live Event.
Description: Enter a summary of what your Live Event is about.
HLS: Enter an .m3u8 URL into this field. (Note: Powr only supports the .m3u8 format for live streams.)
Channels: Enter the name of the Channel row your event will appear in.
After you've entered all the required information, simply select "Create" from the upper right to proceed.
Step 4: Adding Your Live Event and its Associated Channel to Your Site/App's Layout
In order for your newly created Live Event and Channel to appear across your Powr properties, you must now add it to your Layout.
From the Powr dashboard's left menu, select "Settings" and then "Layout" from the drop-down.
Within the Page Options section, go down to the "Available Channels" field. From here you can simply type out the name of your Channel and it will appear as an option for you to select. Once you select it, it will appear in the Selected Channels section below. Here you may drag and drop the placement of the channel however you desire.
When you're finished, scroll to to the top of the page and click the "Save" button along the upper right side of the page.
Step 5: Disabling/Re-Activating Your Live Event
From within the Live Events Details page (shown in Step 3), you’ll notice at the bottom of your page your Live Event’s “Status” and a switch indicating whether it’s Active or Disabled. Toggle this switch to change the status of your Live Event.
Step 6: Removing Your Live Event and its Associated Channel from Your Site/App's Layout
Should you need to remove your Live Event and its associated Channel from your site/app's layout, go back to your Layout as shown in Step 4 above.
Within the Page Options section, go down to the "Selected Channels" list. From here you can remove your Live Event’s Channel by clicking the red “X” to the right.
When you’re finished, scroll to to the top of the page and click "Save".
